Hair Transplant Before and After
There are many before and after pictures of hair transplant patients circulating online and on social media. While being somewhat informing, it can also be misleading and confusing. Especially for those unsure of what type of hair transplant operation they might want. In this article, we will show different types of hair transplants and the related before-after pictures.
Hair Transplant
Hair transplant patient shown below has come in due to visible thinning at the front. Transplant grafts are harvested from the donor area. Choosing them from an area where the hair follicles are dense and strong gives good results. After the extraction of grafts from the donor area, they are kept in pristine conditions until transplant. To perform the transplant, the doctor makes tiny incisions in the recieving area. The grafts are then placed individually inside the incisions. This procedure is the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method.
As seen below, the patient has had very promising growth in the following months of the procedure.
Beard Transplant
Beard transplant is another type of transplantation procedure. As the patient doesn’t experience any hair loss on the head, determining the donor area is easy. The agreed upon number of grafts are harvested from the donor area and planted in the transplant area. As seen below, the patient only had hair along the jawline and the chin. The lower half of the cheeks and the sideburns are now full with transplant grafts. Due to the doctors’ skill, the grafts blend in a seamless way with the pre-existing beard hairs. The placement of the follicles are in a mixed, non-uniform pattern to resemblance organic hair growth.
Afro American Hair Transplant
Afro American hair transplant is more tricky compared to the Caucasian or Asian people. Afro hair is much more kinky and textured, making it difficult to harvest and plant. The strong curl pattern throughout the hair shaft extends further into the scalp. So it requires special equipment and experienced doctors to extract curly hairs from the follicle. There are certain clinics that have the correct equipment and specialize in Afro American beard transplant.
The after picture shows growth of about 6 months. The transplanted hair is healthy, dense and no different from the rest of the hair.
Afro American Hair Transplant Women
Although not is as high demand as men’s, many clinics offer transplant services for Afro-American women. In cases of hair loss and thinning, FUE method is applied to the trouble areas. The density is low, the existing hair is fragile and doesn’t grow very long.
To combat this issue, hair grafts are harvested from the back of the head and transferred to the front. This ach-eves a very natural look by filling the empty area with individual grafts. The original hairline is in place but the sparse look is no more.
Hair Transplant Women
On average, men suffer %60 percent more from hair loss compared to women. Despite this gap, hair transplant operations are offered to both genders. It’s usually men’s transplant results we see online, but there is hair transplant for women as well. In terms of technique, hair transplant is the same regardless of gender. For women looking to correct balding areas or get ahead of thinning, FUE works miracles.
The patient seen here had patches of missing hair along the temples. She had plenty of growth in the rest of her hair, which makes it easy to determine a donor area. The balding areas are now full with grafts in a natural pattern. This gives the patient a very organic look.
Hairline Lowering
Hairline lowering is a highly demanded type of operation. While not particularly dealing with hair loss, some people prefer lower hairlines. This operation is no different than full hair transplant, just operated on a smaller scale. The graft transplant amount is significantly lower due to the smaller area. As a result of this operation, patients can achieve a smaller forehead. The outcome is a much more harmonious combination of the facial features. The forehead no longer draws any attention and the eyes, nose and the lips are in focus.
